Big news of the week of course is that Carl is home. He's happy to be here and we're happy to see him. He's watching CFL on TV right now, which he's also pretty darn happy about.
Saturday I went to help bag some food for the poor parts of town, donated by various people and run by Blanca:
It's a pretty easy business, one group loads a bag of beans, one of rice, 2 cans of tuna and a jar of peanut butter into a bag. Others take that bag, walk down a line to get potatoes, onions, carrots, a cabbage and some oranges. Then they tie that bag and add it to the rapidly growing heap. After about an hour when all the bags are full, there's a fast cleanup and the bags get loaded into a truck for distribution.
That's it for now, we're busy and happy and I'm going down to Pinky's for a swim! Hope to see you all soon.
This last part reminds me of when we were in Alamos. Our "dispensa" list was a little different.

This was meant to supplement a family and help get them through the month. It was an experience that we will never forget. If there is room, I would suggest going with the truck one time, you will never regret it.

ReplyDeleteYou are doing great in the photography group! Your pictures are excellent and you have some cool ideas for themes. It's fun isn't it? It really makes you look at things differently.
Sounds like a good volunteer group. Is that Blanca in the red t-shirt? How often do they do thier runs?
That's Blanca, she insisted I take a picture of her! They seem to do them once a month, which probably isn't enough. I'm sure they have lots of volunteer jobs for someone who can speak Spanish in three tenses!
